KinderCare Lobby Installation

A space for engagement to create a joyful transition when children arrive at daycare

KinderCare is a national childcare center with an emphasis on creating an environment that encourages kids to learn and grow.

While I was a Senior Designer at Grow Marketing, I had an opportunity to design permanent installations for new centers across the country. Rather than treat this as a typical interior design project, the company wanted fresh eyes to approach the lobby as a space to alleviate what is often a pain point for parents dropping off their children.

To create a joyful transition when children arrive, I made the lobby a space for engagement rather than just a neutral waiting room. I developed an interactive sensory wall featuring the four seasons, as well as a custom play structure that took the form of a cozy reading nook that carried on the weather theme.

In addition to the illustration on the wall, I incorporated 3D elements in mixed media for maximum interaction including a light-up lightning bolt, flower spinning toys, felt crinkle leaf toys, and laser-cut reflective snow flakes.
