KAWS: FAMILY
Adapting an existing brand to fit a new local audience

Known by the moniker KAWS, the popular artist Brian Donnelly presented his first major West Coast exhibition at SFMOMA. Spanning several decades of work, KAWS: FAMILY was organized by the Art Gallery of Ontario (AGO) before landing in SF.
The challenge was to take the existing branding and revise it to work in the San Francisco landscape. The solution was a brighter and bolder color palette coupled with a unified digital and Out of Home campaign to cut through the urban noise of SF. For digital advertising this meant incorporating playful motion graphics to catch your eye.
Additionally, the title treatment needed to work with the onsite conditions of the museum’s architecture.
