Bruce Conner:
It’s All True
An eclectic exhibition theme spans physical spaces and lives in a digital, outdoor, and print marketing campaign
Bruce Connner: It’s All True was a major retrospective exhibition at SFMOMA featuring the work of the wonderfully contradictory artist Bruce Conner.
Because Conner’s eclectic work included sculpture, drawings, collage, film, and conceptual pieces, I narrowed in on an abstract image from one of his films that was visually arresting and could encompass a vast body of work.
Working with the curators and Conner estate, I developed exhibition graphics and paint scheme, and designed graphics for the marketing campaign which appeared outdoor, on-site, and in print and digital ads. I maintained the black and white aesthetic as a unifying feature to carry through the graphics.
The landing wall graphic became an unplanned but immensely shareable photo moment, generating social media around the show.
